What is slippage?

When you add money to your COCA banking via crypto deposit, your funds are automatically converted into your banking balance using Aurora Intents.

To keep the process simple, instead of forcing you to manually swap tokens, bridge across blockchains, or pay network gas fees, network solvers handle the entire conversion behind the scenes. Because this automated conversion may involve an exchange rate—and cryptocurrency prices move constantly—transactions use a safety feature called slippage to protect your money during your deposit processes.

What is slippage and why does it matter?

Slippage is the maximum acceptable drop in the exchange rate that you agree to while your deposit is processing.

  • It is NOT a fee: Neither COCA nor third-party providers (like Aurora) keep slippage as a fee.

  • It acts as a safety shield: If market prices suddenly drop and the conversion rate worsens beyond your slippage limit, the transaction is automatically canceled so you don't lose value.

  • You keep the upside: Slippage only limits downward losses. If the market rate improves while your deposit is processing, you will receive a higher, better amount!

Slippage limits

For most standard crypto deposits, slippage is capped at a strict maximum of 15 bps (0.15%).

This means your final received amount won't drop by more than a tiny fraction of a percent (0.15%) from the rate you saw. As a general rule, 0.15% is the standard cap across the app, though minor exceptions may apply depending on network conditions or specific asset pairs.

Where to check your rate and slippage

You can view your crypto deposit details directly on the deposit screen:

  • Approximate Exchange Rate: Displayed directly on the screen next to your unique Deposit Address.

  • Slippage Percentage: Tap on More info on the deposit screen to view the exact slippage percentage applied to your transfer.
